Needs in Placement Districts

Food insecurity, gender vulnerability, and education access gaps.

Our placement districts face limited access to quality education and other basic services. They are among the most food-insecure communities in Sierra Leone. According to WFP FSMS (2024), over 60% to 70% of households in several chiefdoms face food scarcity, affecting children's health and school attendance.

Education access gaps

Shortage of trained teachers, limited learning materials, and overcrowded classrooms.

Gender vulnerability

Girls and women face marginalization, SGBV, and restricted participation in social and political life.

Food insecurity

60% to 70% of households in placement districts face food scarcity.

What communities need most

  • More trained teachers and coaching for instruction.
  • Improved school facilities and learning materials.
  • Stronger school-community engagement to address socio-cultural barriers.
  • Support for expanding ECD centers with qualified teachers.
